The Lalbagh Fort


The Lalbagh Fort, the only historical monument of Bangladesh in the Mughal period, has been used simultaneously with stone, marble and other color tiles. Apart from the Lalbagh fort, no other historic monument in Bangladesh has been found to be mixed. This fort is located in Lalbagh area of Dhaka, where thousands of domestic and foreign visitors are walking around.Naturally, if anyone thinks of the reasons for its nomenclature, then it will naturally come to his head that it has been named Lalbagh fort because of Lalbagh. The idea is not wrong at all, it is actually named after the area. But first its name was completely different, so that the area had no effect. Initially, the name of this fort was "Kellah Aurangabad".Construction of Lalbagh Fort started in 1678. The then Mughal Emperor Azam Shah started the construction work. Though Azam Shah was a Mughal emperor for a very short period of time. Yet within a short time, he started this extraordinary work. Note that Azam Shah was the son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and grandson of Emperor Shah Jahan, who was widely respected for the construction of the Taj Mahal.

About a year after the construction of this fort, he had to return to Delhi to call his father in order to suppress the Maratha insurgency there. After the departure of Emperor Azam Shah, the construction of the fort was temporarily stopped. There is no doubt that the construction of this fort will be completed at all. But with the end of all speculation, Nawab Shaista Khan again started the construction of Lalbagh Fort after about a year after the work stopped. The work of the castle continues again with full enthusiasm.


However, the construction of the fort was closed again after Shaista Khan started working again in about four years, and the construction of the fort was not started anymore. Basically, Shaista Khan stopped the construction of Lalbagh Fort because of the death of Nayab Shaista Khan's daughter, Paribah Bibi. After the death of Fairy Bibi, the rumor idea was born to everyone in the castle, and everyone began to wonder about the castle.

After the death of Fairy Bibi, he was buried in the fort of Lalbagh, and since then it is called the name of Paribah Bibi Tomb. The dome of the tomb of Eli Bibi was once a goldfish, but now it is no more, the entire dome is covered with copper plates.This building is known as Paribibi Tomb of Mughal Subedar Shaista Khan's favorite daughter. In this single erection in Bangladesh, the inner nine rooms are decorated with the help of marble stones, staples, stones and various colors of different colors. Roof of rooms made of stone. The artificial dome above the central chamber of the main grave is covered with copper plates. This mausoleum of 20.2 m square was built before 1688 AD. However experts here say that the body of Paribibi is not present here.There is a mosque in the fort, before Azam Shah moved to Delhi, he had built this mosque. The three-domed mosque is able to capture anyone's eyes. The Jamaat prayer is offered at the mosque. There are very few old mosques in Dhaka.

There are several fountains found here in the Lalbagh Fort, which are run on special days only (Eid). There is a tunnel on the fort, people are told that they could go before or on the route, but now they can not be left anymore. Note that there is no truth about the fact that the journey to Suranga was heard.

There is a museum in the Lalbagh Fort for public viewing, which was formerly the residence of Nawab Shaista Khan and from there he controlled everything.
